Dongyang Woodcarving "bull Legs" And Wood Carving Jewelry Design

Architecture wood carving and jewelry design have some similarities.First of all,both of them are the arts about humanity.In other words,they are made to satisfy the need of human beings.Secondly,both of architecture wood carving and jewelry need bearer,and as for their own bearers,they are micro.Thirdly,they share similar manufacture process and tools.In the Ming and Qing dynasties,they were both influenced by the system of traditional Chinese image system.My paper firstly describes the historical relationship between ornament and wood carving,then presents the analysis of the development of architecture wood carving in Dongyang District,Zhejiang Proving.It developed from the late years of the Ming Dynasty and ended at the beginning of the Republic of China.The main topic of this part is the 'bracket'——the most beautiful part in every Dongyang tradition buildings.In the last part,the article summarizes the features of traditional Dongyang architecture wood carving and attempt to adapt these features into ornament design.Through this experiment,I intend to find a way for traditional Chinese culture to combine itself with this moment.
