This article focuses on Milou,a piece of chamber musical work composed in 1999 by Lei Liang,a Chinese-born American composer.It analyzes the work from the perspective of Ancient Greek architecture and multiculturalism,particularly on the aspects of musical structures,serial techniques,musical space and One-note polyphony to reveal the diversity of the composer's music ideas and styles.The paper is composed of the introduction,the body and the conclusion.The opening part introduces the reasons for choosing this subject and the meanings,the research status both home and abroad,and the threads and basic techniques of analysis.The body consists of four chapters.The first chapter is based on current literature,combing through the life and composition of Lei Liang,the background of Milou and the cast of the orchestra.The second chapter explores the composition ideas behind Milou.The work has unique composition concepts,borrowing the ideas from Ancient Greek architecture while combining the artistic dimensions of time and space.Meanwhile,the chapter touches upon multiculturalism,including oriental elements such as Peking Opera and traditional Chinese gardens,Southeast Asian elements such as gamelan,western elements such as serial techniques,Ancient Greek architectural concepts and western musical instruments.The third and fourth chapters offer an in-depth analysis of the music itself from a technical perspective.By analyzing the concepts,techniques and emotions of Milou,the article discusses Lei Liang's style of music,aiming to provide enlightenment for contemporary composition practices and theory study.
