Using The Techniques Of Music Composition For Reference,Enriching The Methods Of Dance Composition

Dance and music are both performing art forms and have the same aesthetic characteristics in lyricism,rhythm,and dynamics.The difference is that the vocal symbols of music are good at expressing internal invisible life modalities,while the posture symbols of dance are better at expressing external tangible life modalities.When the collision of the ideas arises between dance composition and music composition in terms of “techniques”,the experimental research of applying the techniques of music composition to dance composition shows certain academic significance.Combining the original dance works she created for her personal graduation show,the author attempts to explore the way to convert music composition techniques to dance composition techniques.The thesis suggests that the techniques of music composition such as “branch sound polyphony”,“canons”,and “counterpoint” can be used to design the dance movements,construct the dance paragraphs,and build the dance characters;and the spatial elements of “symphony” in music can be applied to the spatial image design of “symphony” in dance.This thesis aims to provide connected artistic symbols and academic rational thoughts for dance composition through crossover research.
