Research On The Wood Carving Art Of Ancient Folks In Jixian County

Yixian is one of the six counties of ancient Huizhou.Huizhou's wood carving is one of the important wood carvings of Ming and Qing dynasties in China,which reflects the deep culture.Its wood carving art is rooted in Huizhou's culture and it's a bright pearl in the folk art treasure.The carved wooden figure,which is one of the important parts of Yixian's wood carving,has distinct regional characteristics and aesthetic particularity.Its theme,methods of creation and forms reflect the life interest,custom and religion of Huizhou inhabitants from art aspect.At the same time,it's the reflect of Confucian ethical thought in traditional Chinese culture.This article,based on the historical background of the wood carving in Yixian's ancient residence,used the knowledge of folklore,aesthetics,etc.On the basis of rich investigation,literature,we introduced the distribution of Yixian's carved wooden figures of Ming and Qing dynasties' residence in the towns such as Hongcun,Xidi,Biyang and so on.We analyzed the theme of the carved wooden figures and divide them into the following six categories:historical allusion,celebrity anecdotes,literature,opera libretto,myths and mundane life.We explained the ideology and culture embodied in the wooden carving.At the same time,from the aspects such as corresponding selection,technological process and carving methods,we discussed the particular artistic expression of the carving wooden figures in Yixian's ancient residence.Find the emergence and development reasons of Yixian's carved wood figure.Finally,we analyzed their art values as well as the application performance in the history and in the new eras.
