Quality dance education aims at not only dancing techniques, but also guiding dancers to express themselves freely through their bodies, and experiencing all emotions via movements.Unfortunately,in most colleges the choreography training is exam-oriented, with its participants consisting of either dance group members or students who are well trained in choreography. In this essay, we concentrate on the current status of Quality dance education. To be precise, by analyzing the example of an original dance named Stone, Mother & City performed by 60 students with no prior background in dance, combining which with the dance therapy method, we suggest a new approach to dance education. We then provide concrete methods and evidence to own theory, to illustrate how dance education could be made available to a wider class of people. |
