Xiqiao Vernacular Dialect Research

Contrary to the dialect study before,the Field Study in Xilang Cantonese is take the way of word table combined with glossary,we think this way can reveal Xilang language system clearly,then we are able to record it truthfully.In addition to this, compared with Zhuji dialect(natives of Xilang said that their ancestors came from Zhuji ancient alley) in pronunciation and vocabulary to see the change during the time.And compared with Xilang Hakka(Xilang is a bilingual communication town,half of it's residents are Hakka population.So,Xilang Cantonese and Xilang Hakka is in a active interaction situation,specially in vocabulary,and this situation bring some changes between them)is to explore Xilang Cantonese and Xilang Hakka's contact and development.Through these methods,we draw the following main conclusions:First of all, Xilang Cantonese's initial has the phenomenon of ancient,for example,the initial of Fei Fu Feng and Wei read as the initial of Bang Pang Bing and Ming,particularly Xilang Cantonese does not discriminate between the initial of Ming and Wei.What's more,there are a few words of the initial of Zhi through pronounce [n] to keep the ancient form.In finals,[i(?)t2] is different from the [it4],[b?t1] is different from the [bit4]. Xilang Cantonese has final nasals and consonant rhythm-end.This is similar to the system of Guangyun.From the point of the discrete tone of Xilang Cantonese,we believe that the early system of it did distinguish between Kai He and level,however it hasn't [u],[y] and the corresponding finals.Secondly, there are some point is equal between Xilang Cantonese and Zhuji dialect:?[b] was evolve into [p],and the evolution direction of the initial of Ri is parallel.?There have [i] in the rhyme of Yu,[o] in the rhyme of Guo and Yu,and Xilang Cantonese's [(?)i] in the rhyme of Xie and Zhi can relation to Zhuji dialect's.?In the pich of voice,they have the same confusion phenomenon.Finally,the influence on Xilang Hakka are regular,such as a section of [b] was evolve into [p], a section of the initial of Jing Qing and Cong is read as the initial of Duan Tou and Ding,and Xilang Hakka shared a lot of key words of Cantonese.The influence to Xilang Cantonese are scattered and one word by another,for example, the initial of Zhu,in the rhyme of Ji and Bi,and the glossary of Pigong and Bibao.
