The Use Of English As A Medium Language In The Teaching Of Chinese As A Foreign Language

With the development of medical cause and the globalization of higher education,more and more foreign students are coming to China to study western medicine or traditional Chinese medicine.Medical Chinese has been an important course in many medical school.Academics have also carried out in-depth research on Chinese teaching methods,many experts and scholars are strongly advocating immersion teaching method,that is,teaching the target language with the target language,such as the current Middleberry Language Teaching Mode and Samsung mode.These teaching modes are very effective for foreign students who have studied Chinese language for a long or short term,but not fully applicable in teaching the novice learners of Xi'an Jiaotong University.Because these foreign students focus on learning Chinese with strong professional feature only for a short time.If the teacher only uses the target language to teach,the class will be difficult and students will produce fear of distress.Therefore,in their Chinese class,using English as a medium language for auxiliary teaching is necessary.This paper takes the students of Xi'an Jiaotong University as a case.After analyzing the specialty setup of the university,the author points out the reason of using intermediary language in medical Chinese class is the teaching difficulties.Combining theoretical analysis with empirical investigation,this paper analyzes the reality of intermediary language in Chinese classroom.Through the experiment and test,it has proved that the moderate use of the intermediary language has positive effect on the medical students to acquire the Chinese language.Finally,this article puts forward some personal opinions and suggestions on how to use the intermediary language effectively,hoping to provide some inspiration and reference for the further medical Chinese teaching practice.
