As one of the multi-functional musical arts,vocal learning has positive effects on middle aged and older people's psychological and physical health as well as interpersonal relationships and so on.It has already become a crucial selection of lifelong learning.More and more universities for elders and art learning schools for elders are providing great stages for middle aged and senior citizens.Singing can not only show skills but also is a significant way of expressing feelings and emotion.Compared with the professional students who study vocal learning,middle aged and older people,the special group,has a distinct difference in learning method and they have their unique characters and regulations needed to follow.At present a difficult task in front of all the musical educators is,however,the vocal education of middle aged and older people.Since most researches and explorations of education concentrate on teenagers' vocal teaching,there is less knowledge about middle aged and older people.The content of this paper mainly combines the practical researches of the vocal teaching situation of the middle aged and older people at universities for elders in Qingdao.It starts with the middle aged and older learners' basic information,fundamental quality,learning situations,subjective problems,and etc.Through looking up relative information and research achievements as well as concluding its characters,the paper is divided into five parts: enhancing the teachers' leading role,establishing a good relationship between teachers and students,improving the training of vocal articulation in singing,strengthening the confidence and stage practice ability of students,and the handling techniques of songs.They are effective settlements which are proposed specifically.Exploring the practical strategies of vocal teaching to middle aged and older people aims to find out all kinds of difficulties of it.Using scientific singing methods and proper mode of class can improve the leading role of teachers and help to extend singing life of middle aged and older learners and accelerate the improvement of them as well as add vigor to the vocal teaching of them.
