This is an English-Chinese translation report.The source text is from Chapter Two and Chapter Three of the academic work Educate to Innovate: Factors That Influence Innovation.The source text is analyzed and summarized on the basis of interview of successful innovators in various fields.This report analyzes the source text from the aspects of direct speech,rhetorical devices and discourse coherence.The translation of direct speech is the main problem as well as the difficult point.This report concludes the different strategies of translating it in the ways of retaining or changing it to other speech models.By analyzing the rhetorical devices in the source text,this report summarizes up the strategies to translate rhetorical devices in the ways of adding or omitting.It is critical to maintain the discourse coherence,especially there are different ideas represented in the source text.So the report analyzes and summarizes the various cohesive devices both in English and Chinese to make translation work faithfulness and coherence.It is hoped the translation strategies and experience summarized in the report could be helpful to the translation learner and the advanced concept in the translation text could be instructive to the domestic innovative educator.
