Recent years, with the promotion of our country's international status, more and more foreigners have been coming to China to learn Chinese. Most of them are good at basic Chinese knowledge, but at the same time, they still have some problems in using Chinese as well as appreciating its literary works. Therefore, the rhetorical research is on the agenda.TSCL has only several decades' history as an independent discipline, and the rhetorical teaching history in TSCL is even shorter. In these years , we have recognized the importance of the rhetoric in language teaching ,especially in the Second Language Teaching. In TSCL field ,there are more and more academic works and papers about it. But in fact ,we have not paid enough attention to it in a long time. In the teaching practice, we just taught the system of language, and we still have the old concept about the rhetoric . Even when we teach it ,we just confine the scope to the figures of speech. Thus, we should pay more attention to the Chinese rhetoric ,and to its teaching to foreigners..This thesis researches the rhetorical teaching in TSCL form a speech rhetorical perspective, analyses the rhetorical mistakes , and attempts to find the reason why such errors occur and probe a rule for the students' acquisition, thus provides some new views and helps for the Chinese teaching to the foreigners.The thesis is divided into six sections:Chapter One is the introduction part. It makes a literature review on the rhetoric and the teaching of Chinese rhetoric to foreigners.Chapter two gives an introduction about the difference between language rhetoric and speech rhetoric form, and also the definition of rhetoric. It introduces the attempts,characteristics of the rhetorical teaching to foreigners, the rhetoric's status and usage in TSCL particularly.Chapter three is the body part. It researches the rhetorical teaching in TSCL from three main aspects: style,synonymous device and the rulers of discourse analysis.Chapter four summaries the main errors and analyzes the reasons.Chapter five gives some suggestions based on the analysis of the reasons.Chapter six is the conclusion part of this thesis.
