| As the major demonstration of democracy, the Chinese Government Work Report shows the whole picture of the development of Chinese politics, economy and society. It’s an information carrier through which we can know about China. It is also a special political literary form. Therefore, to do a research on the Government Work Report of the State Council is of great value.Under the guidance of the Systemic Functional Linguistics theory, this thesis makes research on the Chinese Government Work Reports from 2004 to 2013 and analyze their discourse coherence. First, depending on the different influence factors of discourse coherence, this thesis analyze the explicit coherence and the implicit coherence of the Government Work Report. Next, it compares the different coherence types between the Government Work Report and literature, news and advertisement based on the result of other researchers, and then describes the discourse coherence factors of the Government Work Report. Finally, research of this thesis is of reference value as follows: On one hand, it illustrates the characteristic style of the Government Work Report through its coherence factors. On the other hand, making the Government Work Report of the State Council as a canon, and try to give some advises on how to write a government work report applied in local government.This investigation combines linguistics, stylistics and secretarial studies together and try to find the relevance and connection points among them. It not only expands the application of discourse analysis theory, but also does a further research on the political literary form and creates a new way on the field of secretarial official document writing theory. |
