(Biography) Yan Liben "Xiao Yi Earned Lanting Map" Research

Liaoning Art Museum collected《Xiao Yi defrauded Orchid Pavilion painting》was reported to be created by Yan Liben in early Tang period.Early Chinese authentic work of Character scroll painting,now is very rare in the world,especially the paintings in Tang Dynasty is almost controversial.This painting is considered to be fake by some experts,some experts even think that Yan Liben doesn’t create such kind of painting about this story.But in the midst of these Dynasties of Song,Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,there are more or less records about the painting.According to the current situation of Liaoning Art Museum saved,Character scroll painting depicts five people in the picture content,presents a story scene:The scene is subdivided into two segments,the main central scene is the debate between the old monk and scholar,another scene is the scene painted on the right side of the drawing with an older man and a younger man two servants cooking tea.This work is not only deserved to analyze in cataloguing,circulating and author research aspect,the,but also the fastidious art of the painting itself is also worthy of attention.The research about Liaoning Art Museum collected《Xiao Yi defrauded Orchid Pavilion painting》in this thesis is divided into three chapters.The first chapter,to prove the truth about the story of painting,and make a simple summary at the painting tied to the painting theme.According to legend of Preface of Orchid Pavilion,the relationship between Emperor Taizong in Tang Dynasty and Yan Liben and some records at that time,to reason and tease the existence of the painting theme,and represent the supposed opinion of specific content.Then list the edition of creation of this painting theme and make a simple summary.The second chapter is to clear the edition of important representations and make a simple study for this edition.First represent the features of Liaoning Art Museum collected《Xiao Yi defrauded Orchid Pavilion painting》,then list related important literature,then make a relatively exact analysis and comparison for these literatures.Next is the verification of postscripts and circulated legends,making an analysis,comparison and verification of the related records in the postscripts and literatures of the painting to sort out different viewpoints.Then get through the analysis of the existed postscripts and signets of the painting,we can clear up a relatively integrated circulating venation combined with the related historical literatures.Finally we can discuss the painting’s author by comparison of the related literatures and edition.The third chapter is to analyze from the angle of artistic techniques and artistic appreciation so that we can study the painting art of the painting itself.The first part is representing the artistic techniques of ink application technique and drawing technique of the painting,then contrasting and analyzing it with temporal theory of painting and related materials.The second part is representing the color characteristics of the painting and analyzing the different features and different painting style of different periods and different theme of Tang Dynasty about the figure painting.The third part is representing the importance of "shape" in the painting and analyzing the painting image in the painting from different angles.The fourth part is representation of aesthetic requirements in the painting which was formed by means of painting works developed to Tang Dynasty.we can make a artistic analysis for Liaoning Art Museum collected《Xiao Yi defrauded Orchid Pavilion painting》from some aspects,meanwhile we can confirm the creative era by making an analysis and comparison for artistic characteristics of paintings in different times of Tang Dynasty,and this is the purpose of this chapter.
