A Practical Report On The Translation Of Information Technology Texts Under The Guidance Of Skopostheorie

As the most valuable information asset in enterprises,data serves as an important link between enterprises and social development,whereas it is a target of destruction for hackers,industry insiders and even employees.The market has put forward higher requirements for information technologies detecting various threats.How to use those technologies to strengthen the protection of enterprise data information has become a major problem in today's information security field.Therefore,the demand for the translation of information technology texts is also increasing.This report is based on the translation practice of “A Comparison of UEBA Technologies and Solutions” from a foreign information security vendor.It introduces a newly emerging technology of detection and investigation in detail.Based on the background of information security,this paper analyzes the material under the guidance of the core theory of Functional Translation Theory — “Skopos Theory”.Based on the linguistic features of the information technology text,the author analyzes typical words and sentences under the guidance of Skopos Theory and its three rules.Through the analysis of the corresponding examples and the application of skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,the translation strategies of the information technology are brought forward,such as literal translation and free translation,amplification and omission,division and conversion.It has been proved that the Skopos Theory plays an important guiding role in the translation of information technology.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,proper translation strategies can convey the original text accurately and coherently,which is beneficial to the dissemination of the original content.Through the translation and analysis of “A Comparison of UEBA Technologies and Solutions”,it is found that theory and practice should be combined in the translation process of information technology.A translator should clarify the purpose of translation,make the translation faithful to the original text,and achieve semantic coherence and credibility so as to realize the purpose of translation.Through this practice,the author summarizes the experiences and hopes that the research results can provide references and inspirations for the translation of similar texts.
