With “the Belt and Road”(B&R)initiative, there are increasing research projects promoted in Yunnan, which is the key hub and gateway oriented to South Asia and Southeast Asia. However,Yunnan is still a remote province and lack of high level talents and effective information in energy industry. To alleviate these problems, the main relative institutions and universities cooperate closely to collect and introduce the latest information items on energy technology development, including some energy patents and general research findings at home or abroad, for their technical research staff. The purpose is to broaden the horizon, foster the new way of thinking and promote the innovative solution. And, the project in energy industry is called Brainstorm. This report is an translation report on the application of Functional Equivalence in the context of Trados, and a case study of science and technology(S&T) information translation in the context of Trados2014. It aims to summarize and analyze the translation experience and reflection on the project, based on 40 S&T information items with 15,000 English words. And, it is to introduce the application technique of Trados2014, the worldwide CAT software, on the base of Functional Equivalence translation theory, and to share the translation features of S&T information texts.Due to the restriction for unpublished patent, the author just provides 15 relative information items as the basic and necessary supporting material. The report consists of 4 parts. Firstly, it describes the source of thesis, including the background and the target of the task. Secondly, it introduces the whole process, including the knowledge preparations, the text pretreatment, the database preparation, text matching by CAT, machine-text translation, text proofread and final revision. Thirdly, it offers a case study on the translation practice, ranging from the legibility to the language polishing, namely the potential problems and the available solutions. Lastly, it summarizes the report and shares a reflection on the practice and the being- to-machine translation mode in EST(English for science and technology) field.
