This translation practice report chooses an excerpt of Lonely Planet Yellowstone&Grand Teton National Parks(Travel Guide)4th Edition as its translation material.Lonely Planet Yellowstone&Grand Teton National Parks(Travel Guide)4th Edition is a travel guide published in 2016.Among the guide books,Lonely Planet travel guide series is not only a bestseller but a legend during the era of paper book.At the same time,Yellowstone National Park joined the "World Heritage List" in 1978 due to its rich natural resources and rare wild animals, which attract tourists from all over the word. Therefore, the English-Chinese translation of tour guides possesses both the theoretical and practical significance. The tourism translation is quite different from the translation of legal documents, business documents or scientific materials. It contains a large amount of cultural information concerning historical figures and events, traditional religious beliefs, social customs and popular aesthetic culture.Taking the Chinese tourists into consideration, this report aims to explore the translation methods and strategies for the translation of cultural information in tourism texts under the guidance of "Skopos Theory".As the core theory of German functionalist translation theory,Skopos Theory emphasizes the readability and acceptability of the translation. On the basis of this, the tourism translation should highlight its vocative function and informative function. So according to the different types of cultural information that appear in the source text, and the needs and receptive psychology of outbound Chinese travelers, the translator adopts proper translation strategies to overcome the cultural differences between the original and target readers. This translation report is composed of five chapters. The first chapter briefly introduces the background and significance of this translation project, and describes the procedures of translation, including preparation before translation, the main translation process and proofreading after translation. The second chapter introduces Skopos Theory and its three major principles. The third chapter explores the features of tourism translation in terms of the purpose and function. The fourth chapter summrizes the translation principles for cultural information in the light of Skopos Theory, and discusses the translation strategies for cultural information in tourism texts with specific cases. The cultural information in the source text is divided into the following three categories:historical cultural information, geographical cultural information and ecological cultural information, and corresponding solutions such as literal translation, amplification, omission, free translation, annotation are put forward. The last chapter summarizes the experience and personal thoughts in the translation process, and points out the deficiencies of the report that still exist.
