The Study Of Military Chaos In The Late Tang And Five Dynasties

The mutiny is something that happens in the army,such as solders attempt to substitute or kill the highest commander of an army,refuse to obey orders or rob the ordinary people's property.There have no mutinies in the early period of the Tang Dynasty,but the situation changed since An-shi Rebellion.Beginning of the Tianbao years to the end of the Five Dynasties,mutiny become something that often happens,even became one of the signs of this era.Mutiniesare so important that we can studying about them to understanding some of the problems of politics,the military,the economy and the people's livelihood in this era.The studying of mutiniesis divided into three steps.The first step is to transform mutinies into the core of the study,to carry out qualitative and quanitative analysis,to find the background and reason of the formation of each mutiny,analysis of the process and the end of each mutiny,and then concerned about the consequences of mutinies.The second,based on those upon results,to study the political,military and social aspects of these mutinies.At last,the article will put the analysis of the reasons of the mutinies frequently occurrence in the Tang and the Five Dynasties in a long-term context,to find some changes of the political,military and so on in that era.The article have some new insights in mutinies of the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties.First of all,most of the previous studies were a one-on-one study of mutinies in the late Tang Dynasty,and there was little research on the whole.As for the mutiny study of the Five Dynasties,almost can be said to be a blank,although it is considered that the number of mutiny occurred very much.The article will be tied for the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties,then,to carry out an equal and overall study of the mutiny situation in these two periods.Secondly,Past scholars have incidental research on the mutiny when they in the study of other issues.Few people have studied the mutiny as the core issue of the late Tang and Five Dynasties.So,the article will put the mutiny in the core of the studying,and then from the perspective of mutiny,to study the military governor issue,dynasty replacement and other issues in the late Tang and Five Dynasties.
