Confucius,throughout Chinese history,made indelible contributions to Chinese culture.Many learned men both from China and abroad have been studying Confucius non-stop,and this translation practice report aims also to help disseminate Confucianism and Confucius himself.The report is a Chinese-English translation practice report on the book How Confucius was Tempered-Life Class of the Analects of Confucius of Professor Liu Dongying,which Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 are used as source text.Eugene.Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory is applied during the translation process and the report practices translation based on historical cultural works' unique features.Translating four-character phrases are analyzed in the case study part.Conclusions from the problems and learning are made in the last part.The report aims to help future learners on translating relevant works and four-character phrases.
