The Transformation And Reconstruction Of The "third-line People" Identity Under The Background Of The Change Of Unit System

The entire nation has experienced a severe form of social turmoil and change since the establishment of new China. Our country bursted out amazing power and created remarkable achievements in economic growth and urban development in the last about 3 decades of reforming and opening. However, the construction of social and culture value system couldn't keep up the pace with economic growth, this contradiction is bound to initiate unignored social problems. The vast majority of people who participated in “The Three-Line Construction” were the witnesses of the social state, their pattern of changing was very worthy for us to research. First of all, this paper is mainly about specific cases studies, trying to show the changing progress of “Three-Line Constructors” under the units transition background and exploring how to rebuild itself, then to analyze the evolution of urban communities in the state-owned enterprises in China. Based on this theme, my article attempts to make further understand about the alteration of residents viewing the old units and orbits of community consciousness,by using Social Identity Theory. To discuss how a typical unit in planned economy era converted into a general urban community, how the “Units” social managements transit to “Live on Streets” system gradually, and how the “Three-Line Constructors” became normal people. After all those analysis, I tried my best to probe external factors and inner conditions of consciousness of residents' community governance in order to provide some practical cases and relevant information for the vigorously promoting Urban and Rural Community Governance.Based on field survey and a lot of data, this study found that: the social status of "Three-Line Constructors” was constantly changing in the process of unit digestion. from the sense of worker “ownership” into “marginal men” whom had lower income, unequal political participation and less social recognition, however, they became real victims in the SOE(State-Owned Enterprise) reformation. At the same time, the communities where lots of constructors and their family lives were also reforming, once the “Acquaintance Society” in inner SOE digested slowly, the simplex administrative communities turned into the diverse urban communities, within top-down management mode to diverse development.With all the changes on the community and residents, the identity construction of residents would change,too.Due to several historical reasons, “Three-Line Constructors” lived in a relatively closed but self-sufficient clique in the past time and shared same language, customs and social resources, it concluded 2 different segments through social comparison under the special historical background. They would have strong sense of superiority while in the heyday of units but felt very anxious in the decline of units system, now they are eager to find a new way to rebuild self-identity. Therefore, it's so important for the residents to cultivate public spirit and improve their own cognitive level of responsibility and obligation in communities. It would let them identify communities consciously and participate the activities forwardly, after all, this would emerge bottom-up citizen consciousness through the residents' wide participation.
