Research On Mental Health Problems Of Police At The Grassroots Level

In the field of public security work,grassroots police mainly undertake the front-line work of law enforcement,including confronting crime scenes directly,mediating in disputes,and serving the public.Therefore,the mental health conditions of grassroots police not only affect their individuals’ happiness index,but also have a direct impact on the standard and efficiency of law enforcement of the entire police force.Furthermore,it affects the actual results of fighting against crimes,serving and protecting the public,and promoting the development of the economy and society.The work of grassroots police is risky and difficult to perform,this requires them to have a certain degree of political loyalty,moral quality,and professional ability.At the same time,they are required to have excellent physical quality in order to undertake all kinds of complex and challenging tasks.As the reform of socialism constantly advancing,on the domestic,security is facing serious challenges.On foreign terms,the rampant hostile forces provoke the majesty of our country.This means that China’s security organs are facing pressure to maintain stability.However,the problem of insufficient grassroots police force has brought increasing pressure.Roman philosopher Cicero said:mental illness is more numerous and hazardous than physical illness.Since the 21st century,we have entered the knowledge economy and information age.Fast-paced life rhythm,high-risk from high-income,and increasing intense competitive pressure not only created more success,but also produced a large number of psychological and problems.In recent years,problems caused by psychological factors of police are gradually increased.They are mainly as follows:not correct work attitude,shrinking from when danger,attacking innocent people,so that the relationship between the police and the masses is getting worse.Now then,we should pay more attention to the psychological quality of the police to enhance the overall quality of public security forces.At present,how to strengthen the mental health of the police has became an important issue that needs to be solved urgently in the construction of the public security contingent.In a sense,the grass-roots public security police is easier to suffer psychological problems than other professional practitioners,which is not conducive to improving the working efficiency and quality.Therefore,making effort to build a comprehensive system of mental health support strategies for grass-roots public security and providing sustained mental healthy care have vital effect on the good condition of grassroots public security team and even the stability all over the society.This paper provides a systematic and comprehensive exposition of mental health of grassroots police in recent years.Through investigations,it analyzes the factors that affect their mental health from views of external environment,work pressure,salary level treatment,family reasons and self-accomplishments.Also,this paper provides further development measures combining practical needs and feasibility.Firstly,we studied literature related the research on police psychology at home and abroad.Through taking S Province Public Security Organs as an example,we carried out an online survey on the mental health status of grassroots police officers,and investigated the mental health status of grass-roots policemen in S province and summed up the survey results.Then through questionnaire survey,we filtered the causes of grass-roots police’s mental health problems in S Province,and analyzed the main factors affecting the mental health of the police.Finally,according to the analysis of the factors,we make reasonable recommendations from these aspects,the law enforcement support,team management,preferential treatment for the police,public opinion guidance,education and training,etc.Also,we improve police performance assessment model,the establishment of police crisis intervention system,improve the service system of public security psychology,and put forward the improvement mechanism of mental health status of grassroots public security police to add supporting protection,which provides reference measures and effective ways for the public security organs to carry out the mental health of police and enhance the mental health of police.
