An Analysis Of China's Public Diplomacy

Public diplomacy is the government's dominant mode of diplomacy that affects the public of other countries by using its own resources. Public diplomacy promotes national security and national interests through the promotion of soft power. China's public diplomacy has been formed in modern history. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, China's public diplomacy came into being, in the course of exploration and development,formed both internal and external emphasis,initiative, leveraging the traditional features at present. At present, China has made great achievements in public diplomacy, which fully reflects the diplomatic strategy,maintains the image of our country and enhances the right to international discourse.However, changes in the internal and external environment make the existing pattern of public diplomacy face multiple challenges. Therefore, the development of China's public diplomacy needs to focus on the innovation of strategic design and organizational management.The first chapter of this paper expounds the general theory of public diplomacy.By summing up the existing theories, it clarifies the connotation and characteristics of public diplomacy; using Joseph Nai's theory of soft power, the thesis summarizes the essence of public diplomacy and analyzes the goals of public diplomacy. The second chapter examines the history and present situation of China's public diplomacy. This chapter examines the relationship between China's modern diplomacy and new China's public diplomacy; analyzes the development process of China's public diplomacy through stages; summarizes the current situation and characteristics of China's public diplomacy on the basis of summing up the history. The third chapter discusses the achievements,challenges and development of China's public diplomacy.It combines theory with practice and summarizes the achievements of China's public diplomacy. This chapter analyzes the internal and external changes in the situation of China's public diplomacy challenges, and put forward targeted development strategy.
