China's Support To The Sihanouk Government In 1970-1975

In 1970,with the support of the United States,Lon Nol overthrew the rule of Sihanouk.Sihanouk had to stay in China.Chinese leaders had a good private friendship with Sihanouk,and in order to safeguard national security in such a new international strategic environment,according to People's Daily and Reference News,China supported him in every aspect over the next five years,which also followed moral code.Sihanouk's statements,foreign reports which argued the legitimacy of the Sihanouk Government and even the articles said that China supported Sihanouk could be seen in China's official media.China also showed her political action,such as treating Sihanouk as a head of state,helping to hold the meeting among the three countries in Indochina,diplomatically recognizing Royal Government of National Union of Cambodia and resuming her legal seat in the United Nations.What was more,China provided a lot of material aid to help people in Cambodia fight as well as the Sihanouk Government in Beijing.With the support of China,Cambodia eventually wined liberation and Sihanouk Consolidated the mass base.China maintained our own security and promoted international prestige.The relation between China and Cambodia obtained long-term development,and Indochina restored peace.
