Feasibility Analysis Of The China Alliance Strategy

Alliance is a prevailing phenomenon on the stage of international politics,and it is a crucial strategic action of great powers for gaming as well.China chose to not be allied with any super powers for maintaining its independence in the late of the Cold War.After the Cold War,confined by its own limited strength,China took “non-alignment” foreign strategy to avoid irritating the U.S.Growing as a rising power,China caught the attention of the U.S.,and as the traditional super power,the U.S.is trying to contain China's rising.To achieve this goal,the U.S.weaves its relationship web to cooperate with alliances,in the same time,China does not take a valid method to meet the challenge from the U.S.adversely.Nowadays,the structural conflict existing in Sino-U.S relationship has gradually been obvious.Facing this situation,the appeals of retaking alliance strategy is arising,in the same time;the vindicators advocate the necessity of non-alignment as well.The disputes between these two sides focus on issues such as contemporary ecological status of international politics,the driving force of China's strategy,costs and benefits of alignment.According to this,this thesis will set out several standpoints.First,realpolitik is still not obsolete and states will continue to regard it as the basic rule when dealing with foreign affairs in the future.It is irresponsible for great powers' survival and development to pin their hope on “powerless kindness”.Second,it is undoubted that the U.S.is working on containing China objectively.On the other hand,China still holds the traditional strategic thought that military forces are to be used only for the maintenance of peace and order,thus,these two facts lead to the viewpoint that China will confront the threats from the U.S.with valid deterrent strategy.Third,there is no doubt that China has caught alertness of the U.S.no matter China will take alignment strategy or not.According to this,the advantages of alignment can be unfolded: insuring China's security,making more friends and keeping China's growing overseas interests in safe.Finally,the change of environment in China domestically and abroad,the developing trend of multilateral relationships between great powers in Asia-Pacific area and deepen complications in globalization are making alignment strategy more possible to achieve.In the last part of this thesis,the writer of this thesis tries to set out methods confronting obstructions when taking alignment strategy,and problems China will face when building its alignment system would be discussed,these problems include alignment's forms,notices and priorities.
