the development track of Sino-Australia relationship has always circuitously advanced in the course of long-term history with characteristics of the times.Since the 21st century, the importance of China-Australia relationship in each other’s strategic layout has been constantly on the rise, the healthy development of Sino-Australia relationship not only concerns interests of both countries, but plays a decisive role in the peace and prosperity of the Asia Pacific region and world at large. The relations between the two countries during Rudd’s term of office seemed to should have been better developed at that time than ever before, however the truth was not the case.Although there are structural issues such as different values and human rights between China and Australia, the development of bilateral economic and trade relations has so far become a ballast and propeller for bilateral relations. Both parties can continue to develop their relations under low-key and pragmatic principles. As to relationship with China,Rudd-an internationalist-thought,focusing on the future, that the rise of China would be the biggest change in 21st century, which would cause a structural change in the world order while the future is unknown.Facing to the opportunities and risks caused by the rise of China,Rudd chose to currently deal with possible risks in the future. He attempted to integrate China into the long existing international system by a way of“zhengyou”at the mentality that he had a good knowledge about China,so that China would be a responsible stakeholder in the international community.he also prepared for responding to accidents caused by any factor during the time. However,in the operation of his China policy,as well as dealing with the interior political parties emotionally,he showed a lack of political wisdom and experience with his arrogance of personality. As a result,it directly casted a shadow over the normal development of China-Australia relations and caused bilateral relations to falter in a short span of time. When realizing that and tried to fix it,he seemed less fortunate than Howard, his predecessor,to have enough time to fine-tune China-Australia relations.
