The Strengthening Of The US And Australia Alliance And Its Influence On China

Since the beginning of the 21 st century,the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region has become the world's most dynamic region,the United States has an important strategic interests and economic interests in this region,and gradually shift the focus to the region.If the United States want to continue to maintain their hegemonic status on a global scale,they must strengthen the importance of the Asia-Pacific region and need to develop a new Asia-Pacific policy to deal with this change.After the Obama administration came to power,it officially announced its "return to Asia-Pacific" new strategy to adjust its own Asia-Pacific alliance system to implement the new Asia-Pacific strategy.The current US Asia-Pacific allies are Australia,Japan,Korea,Thailand and the Philippines.The US-Japan alliance has always been regarded as the cornerstone of the American Asia-Pacific alliance,the United States in the Asia-Pacific region's most important allies.Although Australia has a long history with the United States,but by its own conditions,it has been unable to get the focus attention from the United States.However,after entering the 21 st century,with the development of Asia-Pacific global strategic position,to enhance the importance of the US-Australia alliance gradually highlighted,the United States start to pay more and more attention to this faithful ally.Australia warmly welcomes the United States to "return to Asia Pacific" and constantly adjusts its foreign policy to tie in with the United States.The high degree of consistency between the interests of the United States and Australia in the Asia-Pacific region has prompted the two sides to constantly adjust and strengthen the alliance system to respond to changes that happened in the Asia-Pacific region.In the process of strengthening the US-Australia alliance,China has always been an important factor that can not be ignored.The prevention and containment of China is the main motive to promote the strengthening of the US-Australia alliance.This paper takes the new strategy "pivot to Asia-Pacific" as the research background,analyzes the new changes about US-Australia alliance in this context and explores the main reasons behind these new changes.It analyzes the effects on China and tries to put forward the strategy of coping with this new challenge.The first part of this paper mainly introduces the theoretical basis and background about the strengthening of the US-Australia alliance.This paper is totally based on United States‘ new Asia-Pacific strategy.The second part mainly introduces the main reasons that promote the strengthens of US-Australia alliance and analyzes the constraints between the United States and Australia to further strengthen this alliance.The third part focuses on the impact of the strengthening of the US-Australia alliance on China's security environment,territorial dispute settlement,economic and trade cooperation and regional cooperation.The fourth part puts forward the strategic measures that China should do in order to respond to the strengthening trend of US-Australia alliance in the new period from the perspectives of economic and trade cooperation,system construction,expansion of cooperation and non-governmental exchanges.
