With the development of Chinese economic society, the deepening of its educational reform, and the implementation of "National mid and long term educational reform and development outline", problems concerning university faculty's development in higher education has been given more and more attention by the government and the society. The improvement of the faculty's overall quality not only affects the quality of the higher education, but also is required by the technology and education strategy. Female academics, as an important group among the faculty of higher education, make their career development issues related to the overall development of higher education. This thesis focuses on the career development of the female academics and analyzes various factors, which influence their career development by Intersectionality theory. The thesis starts with analysis of the strength, weakness, opportunities and threat of contemporary female academics' career developments by employing the SWOTtool. Together with the application of intersectionality, the thesis constructs the model of impact factors, which influence the career development of the female faculty. Then with the combined survey results, werecognize the factors, which influence the career development of the female academics from five perspectives, which are social hierarchy,"relationship","gendered organization", social cultural traditions and personal factors. Those factors show clues on how they intersect and play together in influencing the female academics career development. In details, the social rank of female academics in origin and its related "relationship"have shown a significant effect on the career development of female academics, especially during the access stage and further development; as for gendered organization, in the academic fields which have always been regarded as male-dominated, female academics bear a variety of explicit and implicit discrimination, which are not conductive to their career development; the traditional culture of Chinese society, including the concept of marriage, and the expectation of their role from the society, makes most female academics weights family more than their career development. It seems female shows terror towards being successful which leads to a low achievement motivation. Meanwhile, compared with men, most female academics have to sacrifice more time on family care giving, so they are less likely to achieve comparable success as females. However, the factors above have to intersect with the inward factors to be influential. At the individual level, the paper interviewed some outstanding female academicsas samples, and obtained the personal factors facilitating their career development, which mainly are the interest, motivation, effort, coordination of family responsibilities and ability to work. On the contrary, we find a large number of female academics of the Institute engaged in academic research for stability, better social welfare rather than the interest in academic career itself, which has a significant impact on their inputs on the academic career.ln the end, thedissertation proposed a series of related initiatives to promote the career development of female academicsfrom individual, organizations and government three levels.Comparing with the previousresearch achievements infemale academics' development, either from theoretical and practical perspective, this paper gives a reasonable exploration for thelong-term development strategy of highereducation, aiming at providing an analytical tool and a feasible path with the theoretical value and practical significance to enhance the quality of university faculty and then improve the competitiveness of higher education.
