With the development of modern mathematics, especially the deep carrying out of the new curriculum’s reform, the applying of mathematics is becoming wider and wider. In ordinary high school mathematics curriculum standards, the curriculum of senior high schools tend to support the actual background of basic content, and emphasize the practicable value by conducting mathematics modeling. Mathematical competition on senior high schools held by Beijing offers a terrace for the students taking part in mathematics modeling.The aim of instructing is for the students’ overall improvement, and then what’s the concept and connotation of improvement? After a long-period research, we have found that the development of student focuses on subject itself, which is students’ all-round and individual development. Students’ all-round development embodies in both physical and mental development, students should not be passively accept in the process of learning, should actively learn and research, to promote themselves.This article analyses the recent students’ mathematics modeling papers through interviews and document studies. It carries out the research from students’thesis topics selecting, forming process and formation, teachers’ instruction on students’ papers, combining the characters of student development, then has identified three dimensions of student development. The author compares the three dimensions and the changes before and after the mathematics modeling. The results of the study show that, mathematical modeling can effectively promote the development of students, and specifically reflect in the following three aspects:professional learning ability, social interaction skills and research learning ability. In addition, it has certain simulative effect on the development of students when the teacher instructs the students. In this paper, some Suggestions also were put forward for extending mathematical modeling and the students who are to prepare for mathematical modeling.
