The folk game is a kind of entertainm ent with distinctive features which would probably promote people's production and lif e. It is a trea sure of Chinese nation which reflects Chinese traditional culture to a great degre e. However, with th e development of modernization and urbanization, the folk gam e that handed down fr om generation to generation is on the edge of disappearing. On contrast, various kinds of com puter games have gained an increasing num ber of attention among people including many young students. Some scholars who have noticed the danger of this phenomenon claimed that the ignorance of the folk ga me is a loss to our country. Fortunately, as m ore and m ore people have re cognized the im portance of Chinese traditional culture in recent years, our coun try has paid more attention to inheriting and developing the Chinese traditional culture. Folk games, as one of Chinese traditional culture, have also got some attentions. Especially in Education area, the research es about How to make folk games' value fully developed and effectively inherited have become more and m ore popular. Quite a few scholars engaging in the area of preschool education have re searched the application of folk games in preschools. While in the field of pr imary and secondary school education, only few relevant researches have been done.Folk games have the characteristics of both cultural and entertain ing. They are closely related to people's everyday life and play an important role in regulating people's lives. Playing folk games is not only the right to enjoy for kindergarten students, but also the right for prim ary and secondary school students to learn and experience. As the uni queness of the folk gam e, it could have a great im pact on l earning and teaching in elem entary education. Firstly, it could improve students' physical quality, broaden their horizons, develop their social abilities and train their individuality and creativity in the process of playing. Secondly, as for teachers, it could help teachers improve the level of teaching and enhance their abilities in scientific research. Last but not least, the school could also f orm a school-based characteristic, construct a harm onious campus and promote the effect of cultural inheriting. From what have been discussed above, we could probably say with no hesitation that applying folk games to schools is a meaningful career and it could serve as multiple function. As a result, it is necessary for the whole society, schools, teachers and parents to create appropriate conditions actively to protect the rights of students' to play folk games in primary and secondary schools. To do so, there are po ssibilities that students could benefit a lot from it and develop themselves in the games happily.Through some interviews, I know that there have been some schools that have brought folk games to schoolyard. H owever, the results are mixed, which could be at tributed to various reasons. For exam ple, some schools blindly follo w the mainstream without consideration of reality, which results in the lower ef ficiency. Some others' implementation lacks of systematicness or standards, which also leads to inefficiency. These kinds of problems make the implementation of folk games formalized and can't make the value of them fully developed. To solve these problems, systematically plan about selection and designing should be done. Based upon some analyses, folk gam es can be divided in to three categories: physical sports gam es, games with equipment and intelligence games. Because these three kinds of games have different features and functions, the for m to exist in sch ool education is dif ferent. Generally speaking, physical sports games and games with equipment are better to be an independent course and intelligence games are better to be a teaching method. Of course,the teacher can choose different forms according to special teaching situation. For different forms, their designing and developing should have dif ferent emphasized aspects.W hen it is as an independent course, we should especially pay attention to the depth and system atic of the designing. When it is as a teaching method or teaching materials, we should especially pay attention to th e influence of the ga me and stop the cart before the horse from happening. Although there are som e rules to follow i n selection and designing of folk gam es, front- line education workers should also m ake appropriate adjustments according to the specif ic situation of school and students to m ake the process more scientific.With the purpose of studying the ef fects and r eality of folk gam es deeply, We select a primary school as a case. In the end,we got this conclusion: The school education work is a systematic project. To bring folk games to school education is not only about creating a certain teaching method or add ing some teaching reso urces, but also relating closely to education al concepts. It is a system atic process consists of developm ent, designation, im plement and evaluation. In order to dig and re alize the value of folk games m ore deeply, systematically and scientifically, this diss ertation claims that all departm ents should work together, enrich and optimize related teachers, form the reasonable mechanism of folk games development as well as create conditions of hardware.
