With the continuous growth of China's economy,the teaching of Chinese in Thailand is growing vigorously,Among lots of learners,there are some children of ethnic Chinese.This paper,the fifth grade students of ethnic Chinese at Patongwittayamulnithi School in HatYai,south of Thailand,were taken as the research objects,and in the research of the relationship between the Chinese traditional folk cultural identity of ethnic Chinese parents and their children's Chinese proficiency,was mainly connected by questionnaire survey,classroom observation and visiting local ethnic Chinese families,aiming to explore the correlation between the two.The first part of this paper introduced the purpose and significance of the topic selection,and sorted out the relevant literature and also defined the concepts of "ethnic Chinese people","culture" and "cultural identity" by reading the relevant literature.In the second chapter,the local community,the Patongwittayamulnithi School,and ethnic ethnic Chinese students were introduced from different angles.In the third chapter draws the following conclusions mainly based on the questionnaire of ethnic Chinese parents and the findings of actual visits: on the diet,although the local Chinese people have a general recognition of Chinese food,Chinese food is actually eaten in the occasion festival or clan activities;On the festival,the Spring Festival,no matter in the degree of awareness or inheritance,However,the traditional Spring Festival activities are simplified in the process of passing on in successive dynasties,which enhances the function of ancestor worship;about language,local ethnic Chinese identify with Chinese language and generally expect their children to learn Chinese well,but they seldom use Chinese in real life;About the folk culture,except for Chinese Paper-cutting/Chinese knot,the local ethnic Chinese have a relatively common identity of traditional Chinese folk culture;about the religion,although the local ethnic Chinese consider themselves buddhist,traditional Chinese folk beliefs are still retained in daily life of them;As for the intermarriage,in terms of marriage,not only do most Chinese people have an open-minded attitude towards intermarriage with non-chinese people,but in real life,many Chinese people just do like this.In the fourth chapter,compares the achievements of Chinese children vertically,and finds that the oral performance of Chinese students is generally higher and the written performance is generally lower.At the same time,by comparing the ethnic Chinese children with that of non-ethnic chinese children,it is found that the Chinese performance of ethnic Chinese children is slightly higher than that of non-ethnic chinese students.In the fifth chapter,the relationship between ethnic Chinese parents' cultural identity and their children's Chinese language performance is analyzed by drawing line charts and scatter charts of their parents' identity and their children's achievements,and by using bivariate analysis and linear regression model data analysis.No correlation was found between the two.The conclusion part of the article provided the train of thought for the improvement of Chinese teaching in similar Chinese schools and reflected on the shortcomings of the article.
