As a kind of local folk songs in China, the inheritance of Hakka folk songs are the bounden duties for Hakka, music educators and scholars. According to the field research, on the one hand, at present, Taiwan has sent up Hakka life schools for primary and secondary students, and attaches great importance to the inheritance of Hakka culture. In these schools, there are several courses about Hakka culture, including Hakka classes, Hakka folk songs classes, Hakka oral art classes and other classes, which is of help to enable students to experience and get to know Hakka culture. On the other hand, some of primary and middle schools in Meizhou carry out the activities of developing Hakka culture on schools and make effort to introduce Hakka folk songs to each primary and middle school of Meizhou. Both Taiwan and mainland focus on the development of Hakka folk songs, and furthermore, with the rise of communication of Hakka music culture between them, Hakka folk songs have developed from mountains towards cities and the world. Taking Changxing Primary School in Pingtung County, Taiwan and Xin cheng Primary School in Meizhou of mainland as research objects, the paper does research on the courses about Hakka folk songs, and attempts to promote its development between Taiwan and mainland based on comparative studies.The paper is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, it discusses the overview of curriculum development of Hakka folk songs in both Pingtung County, Taiwan and Xin cheng Primary School in Meizhou of mainland, which manly consists of their course objectives, course content, teaching methods, teaching evaluation, and faculty. The second chapter compares the similarities and differences between the two schools on the analysis from three angles of education policies, human geography environments and musical curriculum standards. In the third chapter, from the four aspects of curriculums, course contents, teaching methods and music teacher training, the paper provides inspiration for curriculum development of Hakka folk songs between Taiwan and mainland.
