Xingguo Folk Song is the representative of Hakka folk songs in Gannan,the South of Jiangxi province which is in the South of China.It is not only featured in the Gannan folk songs,but also characterizes the styles of folk song in the whole Southern China.Xingguo Folk Song has a long history.With its unique folk style,beautiful melody and rich culture connotation,it has profoundly influenced people and gained the popularity among the people in Xingguo county.However,due to the various subjective and objective factors,Xingguo folk songs have gradually been overlooked and even been forgotten,being faced with an extinction situation.Nowadays,protecting,rescuing and transmitting traditional Chinese culture is an important objective in China' social development.Education is considered to be the most effective way to achieve this aim.As the important educational institutions,public schools should play an important role in the popularization of Xingguo folk songs in classrooms,through which Xingguo Folk Song culture can be protected and inherited.This article will take the Xingguo Experimental Primary School as the research object,exploring the current situation of the Xingguo folk song teaching practice,the popularity of Xingguo folk song amongst the students,the qualities of teachers' Xingguo folk song teaching,the school activities held for the promotion of Xingguo folk songs and so on.The introduction of this paper states the research purpose,the research value,the research methods and current situation of thiskind of research in China.The first chapter mainly introduces the Xingguo Folk Song,including its origins,development,characteristics and values.The second chapter describes the development of Xingguo folk songs after being introduced into Xingguo Experimental Primary School,and the analysis report of the investigation on Xingguo folk song teaching in this school.The third chapter demonstrates the reflection on the teaching of Xingguo folk songs and the further analysis of the existing problems and limitations,which are found from the results of the investigation and the perceptions and advice on Xingguo folk song teaching from both the students and the teachers.Furthermore,the recommendations for the sustainable development of Xingguo folk song teaching are illustrated in this chapter.
