People with mental retardation is a branch of social vulnerable groups.Their study and lives draw great attention to the society.Writing,as a way of communication,has become a social ability that the mental retardation must obtain.The cultivation of their application writing ability can enhance their social adaptation,which is important for them to stand their own feet on the society.Based on the 2007 compulsive education design scheme of special school for students with mental retardation,and the Chinese course designed by Shanghai and Fujian government,the paper explores the high-class students' ability to leave a note,and write diary,etc.through this research,it is known that the mental retardation students can finish the writing duty in the school.The paper,by analyzing the current situation of the writing ability of mental retardation,put up with some solutions with the hope of providing practical basis for the teaching.The paper takes methods like test and survey,analyzing the writing ability of ten high-class students Dalian school for the Mentally Retarded.The author mainly analyzes their ability of leaving a note,asking for leave,writing resume and diaries.Based on that,the author also interviews some teachers in the school about three aspects: the problem when teaching writing,the problem when the students learn writing,and the solutions to that.The three aspects are used to explore the factors that influence the writing ability of the high-class mental retardation students.The research shows that the high-class mental retardation students have some writing ability to daily phenomenon.Specifically,they could write a note,ask for a leaving,a lending note,a resume,but they couldn't do very well in writing diaries,represented by the poor aspects like word,sentence,and article frame.The reasons mainly are related to the students poor intellectual ability,Chinese basic knowledge,and learning attitude.According to the result and factors influencing the students writing ability,the author listens to the teachers' opinions of the school for the Mentally Retarded,andgives some solutions to enhancing their writing abilities,like stimulating motivation,cultivating writing interest and make the class alive,etc.
