In recent years,with the prosperity and strength of the country and the continuous development and expansion,China's science,education,literature and health have achieved gratifying achievements.As a weak link in the field of education,special education is also growing under the care of the state.The development of special education has become a natural yardstick for measuring the level of education and civilization in a country.Mental retardation is the main force in the field of special education.Effective mental and physical health education is the main goal and task at present.It has positive significance for its social adaptation and return to the mainstream society.Based on this,in this study the strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire(SDQ)premise of psychological health investigation of students with mental retardation,a total of 20 mental health level in the mild to moderate mental retardation or abnormal edge state students were chosen as the experimental group and control group,experimental intervention study method of comprehensive application of group art therapy the mental health.The experimental design of the study group before and after the test,the subjects in the experimental intervention SDQ score difference before and after the test,select the experimental intervention experimental group and control group representative real tree paintings do comparative analysis,combined with observation and interview data summary,the results proved that the method art therapy is an effective method to promote the psychological health of the students with mental retardation,can be widely used in special schools.The results of the study show that:(1)The mental health status of mental retardation students is not optimistic.The main psychological problems are emotional problems,poor attention stability and low peer interaction ability.(2)Group painting art therapy can effectively improve mental health level of students with mild or moderate mental retardation,suitable for mental health education of mental retardation students,and can be combined with specific situations in all schools for mental retardation.(3)After the intervention of group painting art therapy,the experimental group and the control group had significant difference in the total score of SDQ difficulty(P=0.000***).It proved that group painting art therapy can effectively improve the mental health status of mental retardation students.(4)After the comprehensive use of group art therapy intervention,the experimental group and the control group there were significant differences in SDQ hyperactivity attention dimension(P=0.010**),can prove that group art therapy is an effective method to effectively stimulate students' interest and exercise mental focus,attention stability.(5)After the comprehensive use of group art therapy intervention,theexperimental group and the control group in SDQ(P=0.012*),emotional symptoms of peer problems(P=0.014*)have significant differences on 2 factors,that group art therapy can effectively improve the mental emotional problems of students,enhance the students with mental retardation peers ability.(6)through the group painting activities before and after intervention,the conversion of the representative works of the students with mental retardation showed that the art of painting applied to the group of students with mental retardation,which could reflect their transformation in the performance of painting and promote the development of mental health.
