Research On The Impact Of Modern Basketball Assists On Team Performance

In the modern basketball game, assist to score weighs one-third of the whole game scores or even more. The offence and defense resistance is getting more intense than ever in the modern basketball game; personal defensive skills and team defense tactics are improved; the old style of personal technique of holding basketball to make a breakthrough and attack the basket cannot work efficiently anymore. Modern basketball pay more attention to individual skills, team work to perform tactics,effective pass and assist brought by appropriate tactics is the new growth point to score in modern basketball game.the research target in this paper is the effect of assist in modern basketball games,the research material include: CBA and NBA regular season data in 2014-2015 season;three NBA championship teams' data in recent 10 years(the SAN Antonio Spurs, the Warriors, the Miami Heat); CBA and NBA Finals data and videos in 2014-2015 season;based on the data of 16 teams which was randomly chosen, analysis on assist's correlation with team scoring and ranking in different teams, different seasons and different levels of the games, the conclusions were drawn as following:1. According to the analysis on the regular season and Finals of NBA and CBA and randomly chosen games, it is found that more assists and higher shooting percentage brought better team's score; performance of the "play together team" is better than "star seam's".2. The correlation between assist and victory of game is unstable in different stages of CBA games, due to immature player market and instability of team. Correlation is higher in regular seasons and lower in final games.3. The SAN Antonio Spurs and the Warriors are regarded as the representative of "play together team" which wins popularity in the field of NBA coaching; their correlation rate between assists and victory of game is stable and high, it changed in a narrow range from 0.643 of regular season to 0.688 in final games.4. The situation that team's assists outnumber opponent's more than 50%-70%, the probability of team winning are within 60%-80%; the situation that team's assists outnumber opponent's more than 20%-30%, the probability of team winning are within20%-40%.5. stable ability of pass ball are demanded in the basketball teams of CBA, which include the way, coordination and accuracy of pass ball; the players' shooting should be improved, especially when he receives the ball and have the opportunity to shoot; the players' age, being able to assist are key elements, especially to train players' experience of game playing.The main suggestions are following:1. repeatedly to improve the quality and efficiency of assist and pass ball on the aspects of training awareness to pass, accuracy, coordination,the way, speed and opportunity of pass ball; especially to keep the stability and quality of assist and pas in the tense contest confrontational situations, in order to obtain stable results.2. For the "star team", they need to cultivate the ability of team collaboration capabilities, in order to achieve better and more stable and more effective team performance; emphasize assists to play game together as a team; for the players with average performance, they should be trained to improve their individual capabilities and advantage techniques.
