As global economic systems are bound up with each other and audiovisual technologies developing at an ultrahigh speed, people's life becomes more complex in a drastic way, and image recording and communication plays an increasing role as well. In addition, image also exerts a stronger influence on people's visual impression. As the key qualities of the youth in the 21st century, visual literary poses a new challenge to school's art education. Meanwhile, known as one of the effective approaches to improvement of visual literary, photography has been included in art education systems of elementary and secondary schools. Textbook, a kind of teaching material can help students recognize the objective world and facilitate their development. Besides, as the carrier of art subject's thoughts, skills, methods and aesthetic morality, textbook has not only inherited and conveyed art culture, but also shown the education concept of the subject in China.In art education of junior high school, photography is a subject that connects art with the era of visual impression most closely based on the support of technologies. Considering that only four editions of art textbooks touch upon photography lessons and there are few studies about photography lessons in junior high school, this research attempts to understand the reform progress and development of art textbooks as well as the current situation of art photography lessons in junior high school from the perspective of art curriculum standards. On this basis, this research discusses on the compiling characteristics of relevant textbooks by making a horizontal comparison about the setting of photography lessons in the experimental art textbooks of junior high school published by People's Fine Arts Publishing House, Hebei Fine Arts Publishing House, and Lingnan Fine Arts Publishing House. Afterwards, suggestions are proposed for the compilation of photography lessons.This paper consists of four parts as follows:In the first part, the research background of social reform and influence is introduced, and relevant studies about photography lessons of art textbooks at home and abroad are integrated and analyzed. Based on the relationship between new media art and photography, a definition is given to the conceptual meaning of new media art and photography, and besides, attention is paid to elaborating on the role of photography in the development of key art qualities as well as the value and significance of photography teaching.In the second part, according to the classification of photography lessons in art textbooks, the issues about the setting of photography lessons are explored from the perspective of art curriculum standards in combination with class hour arrangement of photography lessons in art textbooks.In the third part, by means of classified study, a horizontal comparison about arrangement structure, knowledge content setting, column design, illustrations and textual descriptions of photography lessons in art textbooks is implemented, and the inspirations from the comparison are also discussed.In the fourth part, Summed up the most meaningful version textbooks of them, in the aspects of photography knowledge content, column settings and illustrations and text description, and so on. a conclusion is reached about the compiling characteristics and improvements of photography lessons in art textbooks. Under the guidance of the compiling principles and methods of art textbooks, compiling strategies of specific photography lessons in art textbooks of junior high school are presented to improve the effectiveness of photography lessons from all aspects according to the actual teaching situation of photography lessons in junior high school.
