With the advent of the age of the picture reading,the Internet media has gradually dominated the visual life of people.The way people receive information has also changed.Reading has become the most important channel for people to obtain daily information.Therefore,cultivating students' visual literacy has theoretical and practical significance in biology teaching.This topic absorbs many different research methods including literature research,questionnaires,teacher-student interviews and action research,etc.According to the research status of visual literacy both at home and abroad,it clearly defines the connotation of visual literacy and determines the composition of visual literacy,including visual perception,visual interpretation,visual expression and visual creativity.In addition,this topic investigates the status quo of developing the visual literacy of junior high school students,discovers what's gone wrong and comes up with the teaching strategies for cultivating the visual literacy of junior high school students on the basis of the curriculum standards and teaching contents of junior biology,such as creating visual context to cultivate visual perception capabilities,integrating texts with visual elements to develop visual reading skills,using visual words and talking about pictures to develop visual expression skills,and using visual thinking tools to develop visual creative abilities.This topic applies these strategies to teaching practice and the selection of cases for teaching.In addition,the effectiveness of these teaching strategies is tested through surveys,interviews,and test scores.Practice indicates that it is feasible to develop the visual literacy for junior high school students in biology teaching.This topic can effectively help students to improve their visual perception abilities,visual interpretation abilities,visual expression abilities,visual creative abilities and students' academic performance.
