Arrival of the era of reading paintings also means the way peoplelearning and reading gradually shifts from written symbols to images based on visualinterpretation. Visual literacy education has become an integral part of quality education.Through documentary collections, I found that trainings of Visual literacy in Chinanowadays are mainly in universities, while trainings for foundation stage pupils are lessinvolved. Due to the cognitive experience and observing ways of junior high schoolstudents are relatively in a simple way, they are very vulnerable to the effect of externalfactors. So the ability of interpretation, appreciation and use of images has becomeparticularly important. Throughout all kinds of subjects in school, you can easily findthat only as a "Visual education", fine art education is capable of promoting the visualliteracy ability of middle school students, this kind of improving can be expressedthrough the appreciation of fine art paintings, it also can promote the critique Visualimages and visual aesthetics abilities.This paper will divided in six chapters to describe junior high school students’visual literacy promotion of paintings in artistic appreciation class, chapter1andchapter2will illustrate the value of multiple definition on Visual literacy and Visualliteracy in education by using document analysis method, Chapters three, four and fivewill mainly use art appreciation class as a platform for Visual literacy promoting, andappreciate the paintings as a starting point explore ways to improve visual literacy.Through some teaching practice, chapter six and seven will coordinate with students’classroom feedback and to evaluate the improvement of their Visual qualities and givesome ideas about feasibility of the Visual resources in teaching.By using some teaching strategies such as dialogue and comparison in class, Make students to understand the connotation of the birth of paintings and to graspvisual elements, as well develop their abilities of aesthetic judgment and interpretationof the image. Facilitate their active participation to appreciate paintings, enhance theirability to identify images and increase their aesthetic confidence.
