The ancient teaching material for teaching Chinese as a foreign language-<Lao Qi Da>-is the most important textbook of spoken Chinese in Korean times. As a classic textbook for teaching Chinese as a foreign language in ancient times,<Lao Qi Da> encompasses abundant ideas of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and it achieves the transformation of textbooks from native language to second language, which has the meaning as a landmark and significant study value. On the one hand,<Lao Qi Da> provides students with the abundant historical materials and the dialogues presents an authentic trade scene between Yuan Dynasty and Korean at that time, which is of profound study value. Besides, the plentiful background information of history and culture included in this textbook also offers significant historical materials for historians to study the economical and cultural communication between Yuan Dynasty and Korean. On the other hand, the authentic reflection of ancient spoken Chinese in the north means a lot for studying the phonetics development of Chinese phonetics and the different phenomena in ancient Chinese such as phonetics, vocabulary, grammar and syntax. As both Asian countries, Korea and China are closely connected by a narrow strip of water, which provides many opportunities for two countries to make exchanges in politics, economy and culture.Although Chinese education in Korea went through twists and turns in hundreds of years such as the discontinuous process in Chinese teaching because of the political reasons, for now, Korea still made remarkable achievements in promoting and developing Chinese teaching career. There are 14 Confucius Institutes in Korea, ranking first in Asia. Moreover, a total of 200 universities in Korea set up Chinese majors for cultivating specific Chinese talents and its primary and middle schools establish Chinese course as well. Thus, it is of great study value to make an analysis of Chinese teaching ideas and learn the essence from Chinese textbooks in Korea era, so as to provide guidance for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. However, scholars used to attach more attention to<Lao Qi Da>'s linguistics and historical value than to its teaching ideas of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, which results in that<Lao Qi Da> did not achieve its deserved position as a classic textbook in teaching Chinese as a foreign language in this field. This paper firstly discusses the creation background and version of<Lao Qi Da> and then it focuses on the teaching ideas of teaching Chinese as a foreign language through explaining each teaching idea and combining current status of Chinese education. This paper analyzes the current status of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Korea, combines my own teaching experiences in Korea and puts forward feasible suggestions and expectations for the status of Korean Chinese teaching, hoping to provide meaningful and valuable references for Chinese teaching activities in Korea. This paper is composed of five chapters: Chapter 1:Introduction This chapter introduces the selection reason of this topic and the study value of this paper as well as study status and findings at home and abroad, which lays a foundation for the development of this paper.Chapter 2:This chapter makes an analysis of the ideas of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and explains related theories. Firstly, it gives an overview of the ancient textbooks of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and separately introduces the creation background and version of<Lao Qi Da>.Secondly, it emphasizes on analysis and explaining the ideas of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the textbook, including simulating communication situation, which reflects the communicative principle of teaching, making proper use of the medium function of the native language as well as integrating language with social and cultural background so as to to promote language teaching.Chapter 3 The implications of the ideas of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in <Lao Qi Da> to modern Chinese teaching in Korea. This chapter firstly gives an overview of the current status of Chinese teaching in Korea and an introduction of the Chinese teaching in Icheon high school where the author taught Chinese.. Then the author offers the following different suggestions by combining the current Chinese teaching in Korea with the ideas of teaching Chinese as a foreign language analyzed above:Giving full play to the medium function of native language-Korean; Setting up communicative situations such as establishing multimedia material libraries; Incorporating the ideas of social linguistics and putting emphasizing on social and cultural factors in language.Chapter 4:Expectations of Chinese education in Korea This chapter makes an analysis of the current Korean Chinese teaching status and provides recommendations for promoting Chinese in Korea:optimizing the building of teaching staff at home and focusing on cultivating their dual cultural background; Strengthening the innovation and development of textbooks and conducting wide international corporations; Expanding ways of thinking and adopting various teaching methods. Conclusion:This paper concludes that the Korean Chinese teaching develops well and Korea has been one of the countries that has an outstanding promotion of Chinese teaching at international level. However, the formal Chinese teaching in Korea started late and many improvements should e made in teaching ideas and methods. Through analyzing the teaching ideas of<LaoQiDa> and current Chinese teaching status in Korea, this paper makes expectations and puts its ends at modern teachers who aims to teach Chinese. As one kind of foreign language education, Chinese teaching is competing with other foreign languages at international stages. And with the increasing strengths of China, Chinese is facing a good opportunity for going out. However, it is of great importance to equip Chinese with strong competitiveness so as to make Chinese as the excellent subjects among other foreign language subjects and offer Chinese a wider stage. And the core of such competitiveness depends on a qualified teaching team, which calls for the efforts of every teacher who teaches Chinese as a foreign language.
