In the new historical period, the ethnic relationship and the ethnic issue increasingly become common problems for every modern multi-ethnic country. Our country is a multi-ethnic country since ancient times, how to deal with the ethnic relationship is closely related to the development of the country. In the critical period of building a moderately prosperous society and the process of building a harmonious society in our country, the importance of building harmonious ethnic relations is increasingly highlighted. The relations of the Hui and the Tibetans have a long history and there are close exchanges between the two ethnic groups, and their relationship is also a representative and unique ethnic relation in western China. In this paper of my report, I attempt to discuss separately the development and change of the relationship between the Hui and the Tibetans in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture and Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the course of the development of the two ethnic groups in the southwest of Gansu. At the same time, by comparing them in different areas to show how to balance ethnic benefit and release ethnic advantages in the process of development of different civilizations.Based on the combination of macrocosm and microcosm, history and reality, the process of the development of the Hui and the Tibetan can be all-round displayed, so can the civilization of Islamic and Tibetan Buddhism in the southwestern of Gansu and the changes of the ethnic relationship. The introduction part mainly introduces the selected topic significance, the research status and the research methods of this article. The first chapter of the body introduces the geographical environment, including natural geography and cultural geography, which is the foundation of the relationship between Hui and Tibetans. Natural geography part determines ethnic social organizations, economic life and customs, and the cultural environment is the indispensable cultural soil in the formation and development of every ethnic group. The second and third chapter states separately the formation, the development, and the ethnic relationship of two ethnic groups in Linxia and Gannan, mainly according to the social organization, language, culture, customs, religion, etc. The fourth chapter is the chapter of analysis, comparing the second and the third chapter to find their characteristics.During the development of the two ethnic groups, they have competitions and exchanges in the long history as a representative of the farming ethnic groups and the nomadic ethnic groups separately. And finally under the influence of geographical environment, cultural interaction and political power, the Tibetans of Linxia were gradually melting in other ethnic, or migrating from Linxia to the west or the south, so the agriculture civilization became the core of Linxia. With the moving of Tibetans, the culture circle of Tibetan culture, in which Gannan is in a forward position and Central Tibet, Sichuan Tibetan region and Amdo support it, was formed. Due to standing successfully in Gannan, Hui also forms the culture circle with the bridgehead of Gannan and with the back of Linxia as well as the whole of center China, building the interactive relationship of two ethnic groups. Meanwhile, two ethnic groups also have developed their ethnic characteristics and formed different ethnic groups in the process of it, so we can say that they are coexistence of the independence and interaction. Ethnic Han or Han cultural circle also is an indispensable part of this place besides Hui and Tibetans. The Han plays a special role in the relationship between Hui and Tibetans, as the most populous and the most widely distributed in China. In a word, all of the three are not only the independent individual, but also the interrelated body, "the trinity", jointly pushing the development of the land and forming the unique ethnic culture in the area.
