| Chinese Boom has been heating up in South Korea,where with the increasing numbers of Chinese learners,Chinese teaching system has been perfected and there are Chinese Courses in every educational phases.High Schools of Foreign Languages(HSFL)in middle school education in Korea are specialized in helping students with their foreign language skills and have been playing crucial roles in the education of talents with foreign language abilities.Their achievements significantly influence Chinese teachings in high schools in Korea.However,there appeared Chinese heterogeneous classes because of their specific enrollments.The student heterogeneity consists of language proficiency,sex and age,learning abilities and other factors.The heterogeneity of HSFLS,in particular,reflects in their Chinese language proficiency.The proficiency in such classes varies greatly that high-level students match native speakers in language fluency,while the low-levels fail to communicate freely with Chinese.With traditional teaching method,there are depressing teaching atmosphere,low rates of speaking and talking,difficulties in understanding same knowledge,psychology and attitude of learning Chinese,and active involvements in classroom activities,which fosters difficulties in classroom teaching efficiently.It is urgent to deal with such teaching inefficiency of Chinese language teaching in language proficiency heterogeneity in spite of the same teachers and textbooks.This essay focus on the issues in Chinese language classrooms in HSFLs to research on effective teaching methods in Chinese proficiency heterogeneity.The research has involved in ninety three students and teachers of four HSFLs in the questionnaires and interviews to survey the teaching status of Chinese classroom teaching in HSFLs in Korea.It analyses the problems through gathered data and the relevant causes.Through personal experience,guided by educational goals of HSFL,and the learning methods of students,this essay would research on the classroom teaching,focusing on task-based teaching,its applicable principles and operative procedures in heterogeneous classes.The Introduction states the background and significance of the thesis,research method and its innovative views.Having reviewed relevant task-based teachings,related sources of Chinese teachings of high schools in Korea and located the gap of the researches applied in high-level heterogeneous classes,this essay would go further to clarify its research goals and focuses.The first chapter is the questionnaire of the Chinese classroom teachings in Tongduchon High School of Foreign Languages of Korea,consisting of two parts of students and teachers.The student questionnaire is to gather student learning levels and motives,learning habits and interests,and leaning responses and status in Chinese classes.The questionnaire and interview of teachers reflect on their teaching beliefs,the understanding and application of task-based teaching methods.Based on the statistics and analysis of the results,the essay would find reasons which affect the teaching effects in HSFLs to provide additional analysis and evidence to tackle the issue.Chapter two would present current major problems in Chinese classes in HSFLs,analyzing the reasons from three different aspects of students,teacher and teaching materials.In chapter three,the author,through personal teaching experiences,would propose task-based teachings and explore its applicability and necessity,its prerequisite,and related operative procedures.Chapter four focuses on applications of proposed teaching principles,presenting a case study of task-based teachings in HSFLs,with practical and clear procedures,the teaching effects and possible reflective questions. |
