Tennis began to be accepted by the public for its fashion, entertainment and fitness characteristics. The earlier development in first tier cities has stabilized. With the improvement of people's living standard, tennis began to be popularized into the second tier cities. In order to know about the development of amateur tennis sport in the secondtier cities, the paper took Changzhou city as an example to conduct a survey of 1000 amateur tennis players and 65 tennis coaches in Changzhou city,at the same time we interviewed 3 local tennis senior experts. Then all the data collected were summerized and sorted through the reliability and validity test, and finally formed the final analysis reference value.Through the analysis of effective data, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Although Changzhou is a the second tier city in China, the per capita GDP data shows that local residents have the ability for sports and leisure consumption. In the past ten years,Changzhou's per capita GDP growth was 249.42%,per capita disposable income increased by 192.75%.It shows that the pressure of material consumption of Changzhou residents has grown, and the consumption of sports and leisure has been compressed, which has greatly affected the development of local sports industry.(2)The proportion of male amateur tennis players in Changzhou is much higher than that of female participants from the proportion of 70.61%.The age structure of 20 to 40 years old among participants accounted for 67.14% as main population involved,in the different viewpoints of Di Feng's "research on developing status of amateur tennis in our country” it's concentrated below the age of 30 and over the age of 61.(3)Among amateur tennis players in Changzhou Province, bachelor degree or above accounted for more than 73%,higher than the national average.High school students accounted for 40.74% of the total population, but participates has been involved in the work are high-income groups.Among local participants the survey found that age below 3 years and have just come into contact with tennis soon accounted for 66.67% of the population. This shows that the local high education and high income groups are more likely to come into contact with tennis, and Changzhou tennis has a lot of reserve force.(4)Changzhou amateur tennis players participate in the frequency of 2 times a week and reach a total of 78.02%,tennis activities are focused on the weekend and mutual learning of the same level. The local participants are more inclined to private teaching and autonomous learning, and to cultivate their interests.Local participants who have access to information through television and the internet are of 58.84%.This shows that the development of tennis in the local is more inclined to entertainment, rather than sports, through tennis for unfamiliar interpersonal communication is reducing.Second revelation is that local tennis publicity should pay more attention to television and network and other current medias.(5)The number of statistics in Changzhou city shows that tennis stadiums are less than 200 and can not meet the needs of developing local tennis, while tennis venues are scattered, management is oversight, infrastructure hasn't updated in time, these are main problems. The local tennis players mainly choose the school, community and other cheap, convenient sports venues, desire for the purchase of high-end products is not strong,58.54% of the participants mainly buy the equipment. So far the local tennis development is not hot,has not attracted more investors and consumers, local residents' consumption of tennis products is rational.(6)About the number of amateur tennis competitions in Changzhou,34.53% thought it wasn't enough,31.78% didn't know there were tennis matches,42.06% was of strong desire for them.Competition venues and facilities aren't perfect, division of involved players' levels is not strict, matches lack publicity and influence, participates are not enough, these are main reasons for restricting amateur competition.(7)Among Changzhou amateur tennis coaches part-time practitioners accounted for 58%,and with work experience of 3 years' and less accounted for 60%,with NTRP levels below 4 accounted for 66%,among coaches practitioners a half doesn't have the coaching qualification,32% people do not have the referee ability,42% coaches think teaching method is the ability the teacher should have mostly. This shows that teaching level, work experience, teaching qualifications and technical level of local people engaged in tennis teaching are to be improved.
