Historic materials are the intermediaries for understanding history. Developing students' ability to analyze historic materials is the fundamental objective of senior high school history curriculum and history teaching. Based on the background, this paper tries to reveal the current situation of students' ability to analyze materials, and puts forward some relevant teaching strategies.Via the analysis of students' problem-solving performance on the questions in recent years'college entrance examination paper,as well as investigation and interview on them, I found students have difficulties in understanding and applying the materials. Most students can't understand the classical Chinese related to ancient history and european languages related to history of the world, let alone have a comprehensive understanding and explanation to the materials corresponding to their time backgrounds. Combined with practical teaching experience, the paper tries to introduce some relevant teaching strategies by analyzing the usage of materials in the textbook and teaching, as well as the training on solving the historic materials questions to solve the problems. The paper is divided into three parts. Part one is mainly about the concept of"historic material" and "historic material analysis ability". It also briefly introduces the current research status at home and abroad and the significance of the research.Part two mainly states the analysis ability of current senior high school students and analyze the problems and the reasons exposed from the questionnaire. In part three I put forward strategies on improving students' historic material analysis ability according to current problems. Strategy one focuses on the usage of the historic materials in the textbook, enable students to read and understand , put forward questions and apply the materials in the textbook. Strategy two focuses historic materials as teaching content, using historic analysis method, expositive teaching method and group cooperation to explore the process, reason and influence of historical development. Strategy three analyzes the method training, improving students' analysis ability and problem-solving skills by practicing in various forms of homework and tests.Based on high school history teaching, this paper focuses on the analysis of historic materials, hoping to have some reference value to high school history teaching through the training of students' ability to analyze historic materials.
