As the times progress advances, it requires the return of humanistic spirit. History which is one of the main basic courses will undertake the load of humanistic education in schools because of the characteristics and nature of history. Nowadays it is becoming a common sense to pay more attention to historic characters and humanistic education. The education of historic characters is playing a more important role in history education. It also becomes the best materials of humanistic education.Because of the historic and realistic reasons, the education of historic characters can not take on the function of humanistic education well. At the same time, the history education in middle school can not be fit to the humanistic education. Meanwhile, middle school students especially the high school students are in the important state of forming the value system and out look on life. So it is of great importance to have knowledge of the situation on the training of their humanistic spirit.The author takes the history curriculum reform in middle school as a good opportunity and chooses the historic characters as the core and takes the high school students as the research object to look for the breakthrough from the comprehensive questionnaires and has a study of the high school students'learning situation, the defects in the current textbooks and how the teachers practice the humanistic education. In the meantime, the author has an analysis of the combination between the historic--character education and the humanistic--spirit education in high schools. At last, the author has an elementary study of how the historic--character education does a better contribution to the humanistic--spirit education.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part is to give an introduction. The second is the questionaire survey and statistical analysis. The third part is to put forward the measures of combination between the historic--character education and the humanistic--spirit education.
