The Social Stratification Behind The “school Uniform Culture”

In recent years,the problem of school uniforms has aroused widespread concern in our society.More and more "news of ugly Chinese school uniforms" have come into our view.Around this topic,many researchers have expressed their opinions in many fields.And secondary school students,especially in the special age groups of junior high school students as a school uniform wearing the main body,the attitude of uniforms is also mixed.According to this phenomenon,the GX middle school in W City,the author participated in the research as an example,a variety of styles of exploration of the Department of junior high school students in class B and class H embodied in the uniform,subculture and implied social stratification in order to reveal the uniforms reflected in the different social class of students.In research methods,this paper is the quantitative study and qualitative study combined with questionnaire data provided for the "hard" supported by the intention to prove the phenomenon,combined with pictures,interviews and field notes of qualitative data to prove that the "soft" supplement.Firstly,the background of urban and rural areas in the structure changes of the research objects are:GX leads to high school,and introduces the middle school class H and class B equipped with the differences in the structure of the family of students and teachers of primary,found from different families of students in the mainstream cultural values are blooming in the school field,the uniform attitude is different.As students wear uniforms,is of special significance for students,therefore the analysis to school uniforms in the play the role of the group of junior high school students,the students found that uniforms is a symbol of status symbol:first uniforms carrying the mainstream value of different school values,educational philosophy and unique identity;secondly it also includes multicultural students,from highlighting individual identity,mutual authentication to peer group identity,school uniforms have played an integral role.Then the article through the questionnaire data,show the different cultural phenomenon of H class and B class student uniforms reflected,supplemented by field survey data collected,reveals the different social classes,students have different degree of acceptance of the reality of the school culture:affected by the original family,the H class from the middle class students of school admission acceptance was significantly higher than that from working-class family class B.After the hidden in the "uniform culture" behind the social stratification problems were analyzed,out of students from middle class families have strong consistency with the mainstream culture,and from the working-class families of students and the mainstream culture there is a conflict between the conclusion.Finally,from the perspective of social stratification can,"school culture" and how to break the antagonistic relationship between the mainstream culture of school uniforms,which play a role in put forward its own views on establishing harmonious campus culture,is also expected to provide some help from working-class families smoothly into the mainstream culture of the society.
