The Practice And Dilemma Of The Elderly In The City Of Shanghai

With the aging of the population in China,the problems of the elderly with disabilities and disability have become more prominent.The number of elderly people living alone and empty nesters is increasing,and the family function of custody of traditional children is weakened.The old-age guardianship system is one of the means by which our country responds to the challenge of aging.With the promulgation of the self-determined guardianship system,the elderly will be determined to meet the needs of their guardians by means of self-determined guardianship.In addition,as soon as the guardianship system was established in our country,the practice and exploration of the guardianship is limited.Many problems have been discovered in the actual work.The development of the self-determined guardianship needs the intervention of social forces.The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility of social work intervention in self-determined guardianship of the elderly,to explore the intervention path of professional social work;to promote social work to intervene in the self-determined guardianship of the elderly,and promote the development of professional social work.The specific objectives include reviewing the practical exploration and difficulties of the notary office and the neighborhood committee's monitoring of the elderly,and understanding the attitudes and recommendations of the notary office and the neighborhood committees involved in the social monitoring of the elderly.The author and the staff of the Shanghai Notary Office and residents' committees conducted in-depth interviews on the practical development of the current self-determined guardianship of the elderly focused on three aspects of practical exploration,job dilemmas,and attitudes and suggestions for involvement in social work.On the basis of summarizing the status of practical development,combined with the affirmative attitude of notaries and community workers in intervening in self-determined guardianship of the elderly in terms of social work,the author believes that social work involves intervention in self-determined guardianship of the elderly with obvious advantages,and social work is in the field of guardianship of the elderly.Professional social work and the embedded development of the community and civil affairs departments are one of the paths that social work involves in self-determined guardianship of the elderly.With reference to the interventionexperience of foreign social work,professional social workers in the future may try to participate in self-determined guardianship of the elderly as a guardian,assistant guardian,assessment of participation capacity and guardianship needs,participation in guardian competence assessment,participation in the guardian's authority assessment,supervise the guardian.
