Since China's reform and opening up, China's economy is under fast development, especially for the manufacturing and trading industry, which also provided the soil for freight forwarders to emerge and grow. According to incomplete statistics, the nu mber of registered freight forwarders have raised from 6000 to 25000 since 1997. But in recent years, the whole shipping industry was decreasing due to the global economic downturn and the overprovided shipping capacity, the decline in international trade and the increasing cost for running shipping companies. In 2015 the Baltic index(BDI) price has fall below 500 points and even dropped to 383 points in January 2016.This means that the shipping companies are almost running their companies at cost.Under the fierce competition, the traditional freight forwarders who are still relying on the information intermediary service are apparently unable to adapt to the update and revolution brought by the Internet. The low margin and high labor costs are the sword of the Damocles suspending on the freight forwarders. Only when forwarders change their traditional operation mode as soon as possible, can they find a suitable platform model for themselves and take reform to catch the train of “Internet plus”. Then they can get their share in the booming market.With the rapid development of information technology, IT has permeated into all walks of life. Lots of shipping companies have already set up their own e-commerce system respectively and bring the function of shipping information query and proceeding in to reality. With this, the fundamental construction of e-commerce system has been implemented and the shipping industry has entered the “Era of E-commerce”. T group is a freight and logistic service provider in far east. As a global company, it has been exploring new business and management mode actively with the spirit of proving high quality service to clients and fulfill their needs. Facing the burgeoning e-commerce platform competition situation in recent years, T group has also developed their own E-commerce operating platform. While when the money and new competitors are still rushing in to this field, the market is becoming more and more fierce, the present T company's paltform may not able to catch enough market share. Based on this, this article will do research on the forwarders business on the shipping e-commerce platform.Firstly this article will review and summarize the development of freight forwarding industry and the e-commerce platform, and then listing out the relevant parts of the two industries. Secondly, the article will compare and analyze the current situation of development of the shipping e-commerce platform in domestic and international, and then find out the advantages and disadvantages in them. After that, the thesis will mainly do research on the operation problems and improvement demand of T company's e-commerce shipping platform basing on the PEST and SWOT analysis method. At the end of this thesis, will come the conclusion of the service operation strategy of T company's shipping e-commerce platform.
