| Since the reform and opening up, China’s has made eye-catching achievements both economically and socially. The total foreign trade especially export volumes have grown a lot. In recent years, in line with the overall requirement of promoting the sustainable economic and social development, more and more attention has been paid to high-tech industry especially high-tech industry. Currently a group of regional high-tech industry clusters has formed, such as Beijing z-park, Shanghai Zhangjiang high-tech park, and so on. The industrial agglomeration has a significant effect on the export of high-tech manufacturing industry. Therefore, it is important to study the influence of spatial agglomeration of high-tech manufacturing industry on the export sophistication.Firstly, this thesis describes the status of the development of China’s high-tech industry, including the status of the export and the industrial agglomeration. Then, based on OECD high-tech industry classification model, this thesis calculates the export sophistication of the five high-tech industry sub sectors from 2007 to 2014 and investigates the dynamic evolution of its export technology structure. The thesis also discusses the interaction mechanism between the industrial agglomeration and export sophistication based on the theory of firm heterogeneity and uses the simultaneous equation model to test the interaction mechanism and proves the promoting role of industrial agglomeration to the export sophistication. At the same time, the increasing of export sophistication will impair the industrial agglomeration. What’s more, the human capital and capital intensity also promote the industrial agglomeration and the R&D and technological will also promote the increasing of industrial agglomeration.Based on theoretical and empirical analysis, the dissertation puts forward some policy recommendations for the development of China’s high-tech manufacturing industry. The government should plan the industrial layout rationally and guide the high technology manufacturing industry to increase the degree of agglomeration. Also the government should help to establish some regular communication mechanism to promote the relationships among the enterprises within the cluster and guide the foreign capital flow into the high-tech industry. The enterprises should enhance the capability of independent innovation and the level of the technology of the exported products by increasing the R&D investment. |
