Technology Import And Export Technology Complexity

Export has a significant impact on the economic growth of a country,and the research on export has always been a hotspot in economics.In recent years,export technology complexity that Hausmann proposed has been widely used in export quality research.Technology import is one of the two main ways of technological progress(another main way is independent research and innovation),also is technology catch-up.So far,no scholars have studied the complexity of export technology from the perspective of technology import.On this basis,this paper attempts to systematically study this problem from the theoretical and empirical levels.The core part of this paper is divided into three parts:(1)The theoretical analysis of the impact of technology introduction on the complexity of export technology.The author first summarizes the mechanism of technology introduction affecting the complexity of export technology on the basis of combing the existing literature.Then the author divides the technology introduction into two types: foreign technology introduction and domestic technology introduction,and discusses the Two different types of technology introduction affect the diversity of export technology complexity.(2)To calculate China's high-tech industry export technical complexity.On the basis of analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the three typical methods of measuring the complexity of export technology,Hausmann's method of calculation is selected and corrected by using Xu's method: using provincial level export data and provincial level GDP per capita instead of Hausmann's estimation,and then calculate the technical complexity of the export of hi-tech industries in the provinces.(3)The technology import impact of export technology complexity of the empirical test.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)To a certain extent,the introduction of technology has a positive effect on the technological complexity of the export of high-tech industry.(2)The impact of foreign technology introduction and domestic technology import on the complexity of export technology is different:domestic technology import has a significant positive effect on the complexity of export technology,while the impact of foreign technology introduction is not significant.(3)The effect of technology introduction on the complexity of exporttechnology depends on the capacity of digestion and absorption,and the introduction of technology will promote the improvement of export technology complexity on the basis of certain digestion and absorption capacity.Finally,the author puts forward two specific policy recommendations:(1)To avoid the blind introduction of technology,taking into account the actual situation on the basis of the introduction of "appropriate technology".(2)Attach more importance to the cultivation and promotion of local digestion and absorption capacity.At least,increasing investment in R&D,attaching importance to personnel training,guaranteeing infrastructure construction,raising financial development level and promoting marketization.
