Research On The Export Technology Complexity Of China's High-End Manufacturing Industry And Its Influencing Factors

After the global financial crisis in 2008,some western developed countries began to attach importance to the development of the real economy dominated by manufacturing industry.In 2012,"Reindustrialization" strategy again rose in some developed countries.The high-end manufacturing industry is the advanced stage of the manufacturing industry,and the development of high-end manufacturing industry is also the inevitable choice for China's manufacturing industry to go to more advanced stage.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the complexity of the export technology of the high-end manufacturing industry and its influencing factors to enhance the core competitiveness of our country.Based on the statistical data of SITC(Rev3.0),taking the data from 26 countries in 2000-2016 years as samples,the export technology complexity of China's high-end manufacturing industry is calculated by using Hausmann's(2007)export technology complexity calculation method,and the complexity of the export technology of China's high-end manufacturing industry as a whole and its sub industry are calculated.The measured results show that export technology complexity of China's high-end manufacturing industry has a slow growth,which has a large gap with United States,Germany,France and Japan,and has a smaller gap with South Korea.About the various sub sectors of export sophistication in general,computer and office equipment manufacturing industry is the highest;the electronic and communication equipment manufacturing industry,medical equipment and instrument manufacturing industry and pharmaceutical manufacturing,aviation,aerospace and equipment manufacturing industry is the lowest.Compared with the sample countries,the computer and office equipment manufacturing industry is the highest in the sample countries,and the other sub industries are lower.In the past five years,in addition to the computer and office equipment manufacturing fall,the other four sub sectors of export sophistication are gradually improving.About the export of technology complexity analysis of influencing factors,this paper first draws on "cost discovery" model to analyze which are the decisive factors affecting the complexity of export technology.The results show that the export technology complexity of export sector mainly depends on the capital per capita,per capita natural resources endowment,internal knowledge,external knowledge and other factors to promote internal knowledge and external knowledge accumulation.Then,using the panel data of 2000-2016 years China high-end manufacturing industries,further by empirical analysis,the paper analyses the influence of human capital,FDI,import,R&D strength,government support,degree of competition in the domestic market for export technology complexity of China's high-end manufacturing industry.The empirical results show that human capital,FDI,import,development and competition in the domestic market can significantly enhance the Chinese high-end manufacturing export sophistication.Government support does not play a significant role in the technology complexity of China's high-end manufacturing industry.It is probably because the government's research funding is below the "threshold" or the research fund has not been effectively utilized.
