| Regional tourism dominated by government makes the provincial capital cities dominated exclusively in provincial tourism. In the background of social urbanization and "city administrating county", the ordered-level system from provincial capital city, prefecture-level city to the county seat is formed, and they constitute the urban tourism space network. Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei are the leading tourism provinces in Midwest China, and the bridgeheads and important hubs in tourism boosting from east to west, Xi'an, Chengdu and Wuhan are as the provincial capitals, their status in regional tourism is outstanding especially, they not only have dominance in tourism performance and key factors, but also be the distribution hubs in regional tourism and tourism hubs in larger areas. The article can provide the basis in fact for revealing the spatial structure of urban tourism in Midwest China, and building the capital cities driven provincial tourism, the conclusion can provide the theoretical reference for the policymaking by relevant government departments. It's a problem deserved to analyze and discuss, it has important theoretical and practical value.In this paper, collecting the related tourism datas from 2004 to 2013 in Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei, using the regression analysis method, the author analyzed their tourism rank-scale relationship, then built the structural and measurement model of tourism dominance to measure the capital cities'tourism dominance and revealed its significance to the regional tourism development. The main research contents and conclusions were as follows:(1) Xi'an, Chengdu and Wuhan's actual tourism scale was far higher than their theoretical value of rank-scale distribution, and they all not are higher than other cities but also in dominant position. They present the characteristics of "standing out" and "one city alone big". As a result, the author put forword the new concept of provincial capital cities'tourism dominance to explain this phenomenon.(2) Xi'an, Chengdu and Wuhan's dominance in tourism performance was supplied by dominance in numerous factors, of which the tourism investment and travel agencies'dominance was larger, the long-distance transportation--the aviation and railway's dominance was largest. It was under the support of these highly organized, technical and critical elements that the dominance in tourism performance was formed.(3) The provincial capital cities'tourism dominance has great significance in provinces even greater regions:on the one hand, it is conductive to make the capital city be the distributing center, and make it play the function of gathering tourists from home and abroad and sending tourists to surrounding areas to promote the other areas' tourism; on the other hand, it is conductive to form the stronger centrality and competitiveness of tourism, it is a requirement of being the tourism hubs.The innovation point of this article includes two aspects. Firstly, On the basis of predecessors' research, the author put forword the new concept of the capital cities' tourism dominance and its measurement model, from first priority and monopoly to measure, which about the first priority's determination, the author put forward a new calculation method based on the first degree concept. At the same time, the author built the tourism industry system to explain it, and revealed its significance to the regional tourism. Secondly, the author took Xi'an, Chengdu and Wuhan as examples to analyse the capital cities' tourism dominance and dissect the locomotive in provincial tourism and hub function in larger regional tourism. What's more, it's undeniable that the article has some problems still, and it's necessary for further research to analyse the effect of tourism dominance deeply. |
