Urbanization is inevitably required by socialist modernization of China and becomes one of the important contents of it. The 18th CPC Nation Congress proposed that the urbanization as a significant strategy for resolving the problems of farmers and agriculture, and the urbanization is a key point for building moderately prosperous society. The city of Changsha has formed the pattern of urban centers and small towns simultaneous development, now, the Wangcheng district has stood at a new beginning with the development of the city of Changsha. The Wangcheng district has turned into the new development stage of the urbanization with intensive, health, equitable and restructuring development of the city of Changsha. Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, Wangcheng district has been growing rapidly in the rate of urbanization and developing fast in the economic society. However, the urbanization of Wangcheng district still has the problem of the disequilibrium distribution and the poor development quality. It is still faced the series problems, such as low land utilization rate, serious ecological disruption, slow progress of urbanization of rural population and defective social security system.This paper examines the history and the status of urbanization of Wangcheng district, and analyzes the existing problems and causes in the process of urbanization of Wangcheng district. The paper aims to research on the theoretical of new-type urbanization, and analyze the realistic choices, weaknesses and existing strengths. Based on this, the author suggest a path, which is environment-friendly and resource-conserving, for the new-type urbanization in Wangcheng district, thus realizing the harmony between man and nature, and realizing the sustainable development.
